Default Taiwanese Manufacterer PDC Unveils SD Card with USB Connector

http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news_10137.html

Akihabara News is reporting that a Taiwanese manufacturer called PDC has decided to give SanDisk a little competition with their own SD cards that sport a built-in USB connector.

No word yet on whether this will be made available here in the US or not. I personally want my SD cards to have the highest memory capacity possible, so I'm not sure I'm ready to buy into this, but I am curious to see what the real-life user experiences will end up being.

well, this is quite old news in japan - it is for people who needs to transfer data to/fro their SD cards and dont have a reader with them...

however, as of last week's ranking - it is not much popular, coz maybe most notebook PCs now have built-in SD card readers...

also, the speed doesnt seem to be very fast... *sigh*

at least - it could become usable in some circumstance...

Unless thse USB connectors help me connect to USB devices such as flash drives it is not useful for me. Well! I do not need to depend on PCs to download flash drive content when someone brings me some files on these USB flash drives.

Ya, that sliding part would definately get lost. Really, this kind of looks like a piece of junk! The Sandisk card does look a lot better.

I use a camera with SD and can see where this might be handy but I doubt very much I would part with money for one. I just carry the USB cable with my camera and can use the drive mode on the camera to transfer to any computer.

For transfering between PocketPC and desktop? Might be useful, but how often would you ever need something like this?
