Treo 670 Spotted In A Catalog?
http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/pdas/rumor-treo-670-sighted-in-catalog-122436.php
"The company I work for gets a 4th quarter catalogue for our 4th quarter product show we have to go to every year to order our stuff for christmas and stuff. In the book under cell phones it has a Sprint Treo 670 listed. It also has a new sign showing that it is a new product. BUT it has a picture of the 650.( I guess since they dont want to show the 670 till the show) It says more details and pricing will be avalible at the show."
Now familiar look of the Windows Mobile based Treo
How much longer will people speculate this was a leak of a product Palm considers dead? :?

It's real
It's real but it's more about a struggle for complete control of the spiraling downward Palm platform than about selling WinMob smartphones. Palm must know it can't compete with Motorola or SonyEricsonn in that market. The Treo is a nice phone, but not that nice.
So, PalmOne and PalmSource fight for over control of the OS. This came to a head just before the early Summer developers conference. The guy who headed PS saw the rejoining coming. P1 has held the threat of not using Cobalt over PS's head. Well, PS countered with Plinux that might draw other hardware mfgs (eg LG?)
P1 took out the big gun....they threatened to release a WinMob phone and told PS to go jump in the lake. P1 has already won this battle. The remerger was a fait accompli the day the head of PS quit. The whole reason for that was because he saw P1 held all the cards. The threat of Plinux.....SOMEDAY...would never be enough to keep P1 from buying PS and totally controlling the Palm OS platform.
Once P1 has completed the purchase and consolidated the takeover Plinux will be quickly thrown overboard and the WMob Treo with it unless it makes a ton of money.

What repurchase? Other than rumors and speculations on various Palm boards, I can't find any such press release under PALM or PSRC stock news. :?:

You must be joking! The Palm OS can not survive without a rewrite, and Linux is the industrial-strength core that PS chose to start with. PLinux will be here next year. FrankenGarnet is dead, and IMO Cobalt is throwing good money after bad.
Treo hardware + Windows Mobile 5 = another home run for Palm. They will sell them by the truckload. The reason PS gave up is, they can't stay in business long enough to bring PLinux to market. They need Palm's money to finish the development.

Avoiding the issue of PalmOS Vs WinMob (I like both) I would buy this as long as it has a 320x320 or 480x480 screen. Right now 240x240 does not cut it.
The lack of keyboard on my Magician drives me up the wall especially when trying to write a text standing in a crowded train. Either this or Universal (which is too ugly and big but I think I can manage).
