HTC Apache Previewed at phoneArena
"After we were first to introduce you information of the successor of PPC-6600 the Apache, now we have a short review and some live pictures of it, thanks to an anonymous reader of Phonearena.com."
The pictures aren't high-quality, but it's nice to get some practical observations. The Apache certainly looks like a nice unit, but only time will tell when this hits CDMA carriers in North America.

This looks so much nicer than the HTC Wizard (ok, except the protruding antenna)
And it has "OK" and "Windows" keys, although I think they should be on the margin, while the twi soft keys belong next to the joystick!

Yes, the external antenna sucks, but if it improves reception and/or allows a bigger battery, I'll take it. I also much prefer the button layout compared to the Wizard - The buttons should be clustered at the bottom (for games) rather than scattered all around the screen.

It won't be coming to Europe, since it's a CDMA unit.

They look raised, not recessed, to me. Of course, it's a perspective game until we get higher-res photos, but I'd be very surprised if they're recessed.

They've GOT to be raised. I can't imagine they would do recessed, it's just that the picture makes it look like they are.
I'm sure we would have heard that tidbit if it was so.
Anyway, I'm actually leaning more toward the Wizard than the Apache. I like the cleaner look.

Based on the pictures I've seen, I'm pretty sure they're raised. I'd provide a URL, but unfortunately, they've been pulled from the site.
