i-mate to Sell HTC Universal as... JASJAR?
Expansys is listing (for preorder, and heavily marked up as are all their preorders) the HTC Universal under the i-mate brand, which is an unofficial confirmation that they will indeed be selling the Universal. This is great for countries where the carriers won't be selling the unit for some time. However, the naming is kind of curious.
What exactly is JASJAR, and how do you pronounce it? (Admittedly, i-mate's branding of the HTC Magician -- the i-mate JAM -- didn't have much meaning, but at least it was catchy.) My officemates immediately seized on the similarity to Jar Jar. 8O That's not exactly what I want to think about every time I pull this unit out of a pocket...

So it wasn't just me that had the same thought.
I knew that i-mate were preparing a branded version of the Universal, but the JASJAR name I was unaware of. Then again, if you look at other i-mate device names (e.g. JAM, PDA2, PDA2K, etc.), the JASJAR ain't all that different. Whack a bunch of letters/numbers in there, and behold, a new model is born.

If they at least called it something with a U in it, it would have been acceptible but JASJAR doesn't sound attractive at all. Could it be that the perfect device is on its way and the reseller is gonna mess up the ultimate clmashell device by giving it a wacky name?? If its not the developer of the product that gives clamshells a bad name, its the reseller.

It would only be perfect for the U.S. if you deleted UMTS and added the fourth band and EDGE.

If you've heard Windows Mobile 5.0's new sound scheme, you'll come to realise that what you said is no joke. 8)

As I understand iMate is a Middle Eastern company.
They unfortunately seem clueless here as to what that might mean or sound like in some languages 8O
Reminds me of the Toyota MR2, in french MR2 phonetically sounds like what translates to "Hey $#!thead" 8O
