Default Saunders and Dell Release New Axim X50 Cases

http://www.saunders-usa.com/press_d...il.cfm?pr_id=44

"America's leader in PDA hardcase innovation has again teamed up with Dell to introduce an exciting new line of sturdy yet stylish cases for the Dell Axim X50. Saunders, maker of RhinoSkin cases for mobile technology products, has announced that it will produce three more cases for the Dell PDA. The new line is based on customer demand and incorporates new materials, features and colors. The result is a line of cases that truly meets user need while perfectly fusing form and function."

Saunders has just announced a new line of cases for the Axim X50 line. They include a new aluminium case with extended battery support (RRP - $34.95), a new titanium case (RRP - $79.95), and new silicone cases (RRP - $19.95) available in four different colours (black, maroon, blue, and orange). All cases can be purchased through Dell and Saunders.

Except for the name, that case looks identical to my metal Rhino Skin case. I bought it from Dell for about half that price last fall when I bought my X50v. If I had seen it first I wouldn't have. It offers good protection but it makes the device huge. All Pocket PCs should have a flip-up screen cover so they don't require a case. It's a shame to have such a sleek unit and then have to bulk it up with a case.

This case is from RhinoSkin but it is made from Titanium, not Aluminum, thus the higher price. A Titanium case is significantly stronger and is slightly darker in color. If you want maximum protection for a $400+ device, this is it.

What about the weight, is it heavier than aluminum or magnesium?

Titanium should be lighter than either aluminum or magnesium. It has a better weight to strength ratio and so can be made thinner.
