Default The Dopod 828 and Future Development Plans

http://www.eprice.com.tw/news/?news_id=3149

ePrice Taiwan has posted an interesting article (in Chinese) on the Dopod 828 and the company's plans for future Pocket PCs. The Dopod 828 is essentially a rebranded HTC Magician with 128MB RAM. Expanded RAM aside, all other features are essentially the same. But what about future development plans? Dopod claims that Wi-Fi, WiMAX and 3G-equipped Pocket PCs will all surface in the very near future. I can't wait...

I pretty much have one of these already, except mine looks like an i-mate Jam. It is a little late for them to finally do this, but it makes sense if it will be awhile before a replacement for the Magician is released. Maybe someone will catch on and put EDGE on one of these devices sometime soon!

Thats a nice package, although I much prefer the JAM/XDA Mini styling. Good idea to provide an SD WiFi in the box!!

I wish my device had 128Mb RAM

If you don't mind the cost, there's always Pocket PC Techs.

That's what I have...the Jam with the PPCTechs upgrade. It makes a huge difference in how I am able to use the device. Instead of trying to install everything in the tiny ROM space available or onto an SD card, I cna install what I need wherever I prefer to have it. I don't have to remember to delete my email every week or two in order to conserve RAM space, nor do I have to delete the temporary internet files every time I exit Internet Explorer. All the little things I used to do to conserve memory are still done, but at my leisure rather than out of fear that the RAM storage is running low. In addition, when running larger programs the Program memory no longer has any need to push its way over into the Storage memory's section of RAM, thus keeping that space complete free for storage.
