Speereo Voice Translator 2.1 Released
"St. Petersburg, Russia July 1, 2005 - Speereo Software launched Speereo Voice Translator 2.1. This is a new improved version of popular speech product designed for Pocket PC and Pocket PC based smartphones. Speereo offers this product as a complete solution for travelers. The main attractive feature of this product is the ability to understand a spoken word. Once the user pronounce the phrase in English, Speereo Voice Translator immediately reads back the same phrase in one of other languages (Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Chinese and Japanese)."
Speereo Software has just released Speereo Voice Translator 2.1, which reads back any spoken English phrase in another language. Pretty neat! More information can be found at the Speereo Software site.

It looks good, but it apears its not really "any" phrase. Just the ones they give you in their lists of phrases. Now, if someone could come up with a translator that could take any phrase you want to say (without relying on preset phrases), figure out the grammer, then say it in another language - now that would be something

From the website:
"Select your platphorm" ?? (Not without a doctor present, thank you.)
And the English-Japanese demo is actually an English-Spanish one.
The English-Spanish demo that downloads under that name on the drop down menu seems to be the newer version. The one that downloads from the Eng-Jap selection is probably the 2.0 version of Eng-Spa.
The English-Japanese version (either 2.0 or 2.1) doesn't seem to be available anywhere on the page.
If you're going to hype your new release you should make sure your website is ready for prime-time.

This falls right in line with the ectaco link I found the other day -
http://www.ectaco.co.uk/UTESpPol/
The funny thing about this is its more for law enforcement... Ever wonder what "Stick up your hands chucko" or "Spread em" sounds like in spanish?
Oh yeah the one thing I would love to see in these PPC translators - 1) One translator that will translate into a ton of other languages and 2) One that does not require built in phrases but is a "true" translator.
