Upcoming Software: Sensis Whereis Navigator
"Hate driving in unfamiliar surroundings? Then this might be your new favourite front-seat companion. WhereIs Navigator from Sensis is upcoming software for smartphones and PDAs that uses GPS positioning technology to figure out where you are, and then load up the latest street maps and other geographical information from Sensis' databases, over the mobile network. Key in your destination, or look it up from a location-based Yellow-pages style directory, or from your address book and then get graphical and spoken directions to how you should drive there. You can ask for maps of the entire journey, to see exactly what side of town you need to get to, and it will even give an estimated time of arrival..."
This one's for Australians. It's certainly great seeing more and more GPS solutions in the making. I can't wait to get my hands on this one. :-)

Great... but expensive
This does sound like a good application to have.
BUT
In Australia at the moment, it is extremely expensive to
use data across the GPRS network. There are no "all
you can use" data plans (unless you are aware of any?).
Hence paying by the MB gets very expensive. With
an application like this, you will be stung big time!

If I'm using Tom Tom maps on my 6515 this will avoid using the GPRS at all. right? :?:

You'd only really need a GPRS connection to pull real-time traffic data off the provider's servers. If this is something you don't plan on doing, then you can probably avoid using GPRS.

Hi - HP 6515
Hi,
I am looking at buying the HP 6515 with Whereis GPS software.
My understanding is that the 6515 has a built in GPS system.
Is it any good?
What is the software it comes with like?
The Whereis software... does it operate on GPS alone, do I have to subscribe? I just want to use the GPS and not update it constantly on GPRS. I dont want to pay any extra for GPRS.
Is the software for the GPS the same as the Mio 168?
What is the best PDA, MOBILE PHONE, GPS SYSTEM??
I think this looks and sounds great when reading reviews on it.
