Fujitsu-Siemens Makes It Official: Windows Mobile 5.0 for LOOX 718 and 720
"Fujitsu Siemens Computers will offer the Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade in fall 2005 for the following handhelds: Pocket LOOX 718, and Pocket LOOX 720. The new software enables users to take advantage of several new productivity and multimedia enhancements, like updated Microsoft Office programs, Direct3D Mobile support and Windows Media Player 10. It also supports persistent storage capability, helping to protect against the loss of personal data and applications when batteries discharge completely."

We made somewhat official announcements on this upgrade in May and June, but Fujitsu-Siemens decided to make it 100% official with today's press release announcing the availability of the Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade for the Pocket LOOX 718 and 720. No word on pricing yet (if any). The upgrade can be expected this fall at www.pocketloox-choice.com.

Mmmm... I think that if fujitsu-siemens starst selling these toys worldwide, HP would be in serius problems. The Loox 720 is a lot better than the other VGA ppc, IMO. I remember about some article that i read here - maybe - telling that real innovation come from small makers, not the big ones. Also, a few years ago, the loox was the first ppc with a 400mhz xscale cpu, a long time before the 3970 and the e740.
So fellow readers, why dont we all write a letter to fujitsu - siemens and tell them will trash our iPAQs if they distribute worldwide?

Yeah, that's the main thing about the 720 stopping it from being on a lot of people's lists around the world - limited geographical availabilty.
BTW Darius - you do know that that picture isn't of a Loox 718/720, right? ops:

Axim X50v, Loox 720 and HX4700 all made and desgined by one single company, HTC in Taiwan.
HP, DELL and SF don't make these devices.
