HP iPAQ hw6515 On Sale in Singapore - July 1, 2005
"The iPAQ 6515 Mobile Media Companion. A powerful processor, top-end features and extreme mobility: quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE always-on voice & data connectivity and Global Positioning (provider dependent). With integrated Bluetooth 1.2 & integrated 1.3mp HP Photosmart camera."
Singaporeans: Get ready to shell out SG$1,347 for an iPAQ hw6515 (or SG$1,199 with the eCoupon from the TNP Citibank advertisement that went out on Thursday, June 16, 2005). The units are set to ship from July 1 onwards, so if you want to be one of the first people to officially get their hands on the device, it may be a good idea to order it as soon as possible (as it's being delivered on a first come, first served basis). The official specifications are: Intel PXA270 312MHz processor, 64MB RAM and 64MB ROM (55MB user available + 12MB iPAQ File Store), quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 1.2, SIR, integrated GPS, an SDIO slot, a miniSD slot, a 1.3MP camera, a 3.0" transflective 240x240 screen (64K colour), and a 1200mAh Li-Ion battery. The hw6515 weighs in at 5.8oz (165g) and measures in at 118mm x 71mm x 21mm. Additional details can be found at HP Singapore's online store.

Well, this is what happens when I blindly copy specs from HP. Anyway, it's partly right, but I'll update the post just to make things clearer.

Just for the record: The Register picked this story from msmobiles.com story about it, that was published much before The Register.
Unfortunately The Register is not crediting anybody (they even don't credit Taiwanese press, from which they copy articles), so maybe you guys at Pocket PC Thoughts at least could credit stuff properly once in a while? (or just don't credit The Register, because it was not the first and not the originator, and The Register generally is anti-Microsoft)

For comparison, that's $807 US. Anyway, I never have been psyched about this device - especially since it has that square screen and a 312MHz processor. The quad band and GPS are pretty cool, but it would need a VGA screen, minimum 624MHz processor, built-in WiFi, and 2-3 times that RAM for me to even turn my head.

Skype requires 400 MHz or more to work...

The article's text is significantly different, so there is nothing there to suggest that it was a direct ripoff; instead, it's quite likely that the information was given to both The Register and MS Mobiles simultaneously. Just because MS Mobiles posted the information supposedly a few hours earlier (note that it has the same date at both locations), it doesn't mean that they own the information. We credit the article based on where we see it and we always take the necessary steps to ensure that the original source is mentioned (and in this case, there is no definitive source). We saw it at The Register first - hence, the credit. If you have an issue with The Register's handling of the information, please take it up with them directly.

As I said earlier, we take the crediting of sources very seriously. Based on what you just said, it seems a little unfair to accuse us of only "crediting stuff properly once in a while". On every occasion, when we see information posted on an external website, or we are sent information from an outside source, we always ensure to credit the source accurately and appropriately.

The Register doesn't have link to the HP Singapore website. MS Mobiles has this link. You publish this link so it means that you took it from MS Mobiles right?
Apart from that: you are right, nobody owns this story because link should go to HP Singapore only. I was just a bit confused that you credit The Register, even though it doesn't have link to HP Singapore but MS Mobiles has it...

Um...no. :? FYI, I went to HP Singapore myself and got an appropriate link. Note that in this context, it would be highly inappropriate to consider links as material protected under copyright.
