myIP 1.x Now Available
Slipstream Solutions has just released myIP - a utility which allows you to do all sorts of things with an IP address (e.g. ping, resolve, etc.). A trial version and the full version is available from Handango. It's selling for $9.99. [Affiliate]

I was going to point out the same...not to knock somebody's efforts of course, but why pay for this when you can get this function and about a dozen others for free? For personal use, that is.

when i read the new post email in my inbox, i think to myself - why pay US$9.95 if you can get the same functionality for free?
well, to be fair to the other guy - there must be something that would separate it from vXutil to market it at that price, right? unless they wouldnt know of vXutil...

I'm thinking that while vxUtil is freakin' useful, it ain't exactly the easiest on the eyes. That may be where the $9.99 comes in.

Hi guys, thanks for the comments. As already guessed by ctmagnus, myIP is designed for less-technical users. We had a customer who asked us to develop this for their mobile user population and we productised it. The app's being burnt into an RUU file for them by i-mate.
We do know about vxUtil, but myIP is designed to be much easier to use (for example, it sits at the bottom of the Today screen and can be brought up with a single click).
Scenario is that when a user calls into a helpdesk the techie on the other end can get them to read back the device's IP address, ping and port-check a nominated server/port (in the instance with our customer, a oneBridge server). The techie can then trouble-shoot the user's connection, telnetting back to the device etc.
Best regards!
Joanne
