Default Simbolic WMP Remote 1.1 Released

http://www.simbolic.net/software/WMPRemote/

"Simbolic WMP Remote is a Pocket PC application for controlling Windows Media Player running on a remote computer. You can browse the media library or the any connected drives on the remote computer and play any available items. The Simbolic WMP Remote Server needs to be running on the remote computer in order for this connection to work. This component can be set to startup automatically when your computer starts, or can be set to start whenever an ActiveSync connection is established. It must also be possible for a network connection to be established between the Pocket PC device and the remote computer. This could be a wireless network connection or an ActiveSync pass through connection via Bluetooth or USB connection."

Simbolic WMP Remote 1.1 has just been released. In order for it to work, you will need Microsoft's .NET Compact Framework SP3 on your Pocket PC, and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 and Windows Media Player 10 on your PC. A short five-minute trial version can be downloaded from Handango. The full version is available for $9.95. [Affiliate]

If I understood correctly, the new ActiveSync doesn't have WiFi syncing, will this affect programs like this?

Not directly. Most remote control applications work through any network connection, whether ActiveSync dependent or not. If the user were to depend on a Wi-Fi ActiveSync connection, then it wouldn't work with ActiveSync 4.0. But it would still work with other forms of ActiveSync Pass-Through connections as well as standard network connections - so overall, ActiveSync 4.0 wouldn't impose a huge restriction on the way these applications function.
