Default A Windows Mobile 5.0-Powered "Einstein"?

http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail...574&last=577789

Very few details are known about where this device is from and when it will be released, but what is known is that the "Einstein" is a Windows Mobile 5.0-powered Pocket PC Phone featuring a 416MHz processor, 64MB of memory, GSM/GPRS - Tri-Band, a 262K-colour QVGA 2.4" LCD, 2.1M CMOS camera, a TV and FM radio tuner, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a miniSD slot. Additional information on the "Einstein" can be found at Mobile01 (in Chinese). All I can say is that there are definitely some interesting devices on show at Computex this year.

Update: This device is from Gigabyte.

Built in TV tuner? That's pretty cool. But how long will that be useful? Once HD takes over the world and broadcasts are eventually eliminated...won't this be useless? And that was supposed to take place by 2006, right? Not that I believe it WILL happen that soon...but one would hope the device would be useful longer than a year.

Default Where's the booth?

Does anybody know where in Computex that booth is in the picture with all the Windows Mobile units there? I searched all over Computex looking for PPCs but only found the Asus, Etek and BenQ booths. I was really sad that HTC didn't have a booth with the Wizard and Universe, but I knew there had to be more PPCs than I saw.

To me, TV tuner means one thing - input video capture. Nothing would be cooler if I could capture footage from a video source without having to aim my 0.3-1.3 megapixel camera at a monitor or TV and deal with the generation loss, interlacing, etc. Just another neat feature that's already implemented in many digital media devices such as the RCA Lyra RD2780 and the Archos AV-series.

Who knows? I could let my PocketPC capture my DVD movies or record a TV show like a VCR or a TiVO without having to suck up desktop PC power to render and compress the footage for me.

Thanks for the info. This is my first time to Computex and I couldn't believe how incredibly huge the whole thing was. Are there any other PPC booths other than these? Can you pick up all these units and handle them or are they all locked behind the glass cases?

Has anyone else noticed that almost all of these cool new PPCPE devices are Tri-Band only? I guess that shows how difficult it is for manufacturers to get into the US market. I think to a large extent many of them have given up, since US carriers seem hell-bent on keeping the masses away from progressive technology.

Yeah, Computex tends to be pretty big. There are other Pocket PC booths. The best thing to do would be to visit each company's websites. They usually list the booths they're occupying. As a tip, look up Asus, AnexTEK, BenQ, Dopod, E-TEN, Gigabyte, HP, and Mio. Those are the main Pocket PC manufacturers on the floor this year.

With regard to whether you'll be able to pick the devices up, for most you will be able to, although I'm guessing there are a select few you won't be able to.

Have fun walking the floor!
