Laridian Released BookBuilder For PocketBible
http://www.laridiansales.com/order/productpages/BBPPC001.asp?ref=apwzwtzws
Laridian has released a new program called BookBuilder that allows you to make true PocketBible books. You have always been able to make specially formatted HTML files that PocketBible treated as books, but now you can create actual .lbk or .ldr (Daily Reader) files. These are searchable, they render on the screen faster and you can make your own notes from within PocketBible. With HTML files, you have to exit PocketBible, open Pocket Word and your custom HTML file, find your place, add the note, save and close the file and reopen PocketBible.
These are the same basic tools and techniques the staff at Laridian uses. You can distribute your books to a close group of friends. If you are interested in more widely publishing your books, you can get BookBuilder Professional which is a more advanced program that also allows you to create books for the PalmOS version, MyBible. You can then submit your book to Laridian so they can assign a unique publisher and book ID, which PocketBible uses internally.

Much better than HTML. I'm gonna play around with this later. Thanks Ed!
Without you, I never would've found Pocket Bible and Daily Reader!

From what I've read, this appears to be a PC-only application. While still cool, it means that any additional notes you take on the file will still be in the current method. :?
Still - it looks like a promising product. It seems as if it would be useful to construct things like SS lessons for Daily Reader or PB. Links to sections of scriptures or other notes such as LAB would be great to tie in with some other notes. Easy way to get to specific passages as well. I do wish that a demo was available, even if it was only a demo and not unlockable. That would tell me if my HTML skills are up to the level needed to use this program successfully.
I may check it out in a little bit. Don't remember if I got one of their special offer newsletters for this or not. I did get the announcement, though.
Thanks for the update, Ed.
-Pete

Laridian makes some really cool products.
At the same time, however, I am wondering if they ever intend to update their flagship PocketBible program? It feels as though it has been years since they have released a major new version of PocketBible. I have been hoping that they might consider implementing a tabbed interface that makes it easier to switch between books. Also, PocketBible is the only program on my HP 2210 that usually requires a soft reset anytime I try to open it (otherwise it just hangs). I know of at least one other person who has the same experience.
I love PocketBible and I use it all the time, but there is still room for some improvement.

In fact it has been OVER FIVE YEARS since the last major version 2.0 has been released. We only saw very minor releases (inteded to either fix new found bugs or make PockeBible compatible with new e-books) since then.
Laridian definitively holds Guiness world record for the longest time passed since the last new major version release. This is a shame, since the amount of their e-books published since then, when combined with the antiquitated e-book management method utilized by PB 2.0, results in EXTREMELY cumbersome way of handling such a large collection of electronic titles. At the same time users have been submitting hundreds of suggestions for improvements. Up till now they went unaswered.
Some time ago I suspened all purchases from Laridian until PocketBible 3.0 is released. This means I will put off purchase of this new side product.
Cheers,

I, for one, would like to see a desktop/tablet-pc version, with full note and bookmark synchronization to the pocket pc version.
Also, I want the notes/bookmarks to not be locked away - I like how pocket e-sword stores notes in just a sql ce database....
Great product, but getting long in the tooth...
