Z4Soft Releases PTab Spreadsheet Software
"PTab is a spreadsheet for Windows NT/2000/XP, PocketPC, Smartphone (Windows Mobile based), Handheld PC (HPC), Casio BE-300 (Cassiopeia BE300 Pocket Manager) or Palm-Size PC (PPC) with the key features of common desktop spreadsheets."
For those of you not fully satisfied with Pocket Excel as a spreadsheet solution and are considering something other than PlanMaker, you'll want to give this a look. If PTab can function as a true replacement for Pocket Excel and doesn't suffer from the same long load times as PlanMaker, I'll have to consider this myself. If you're interested, you can pick it up for $30 here at Handango [affiliate]. Fully functional trial download is also available. Have any of you folks given this a try yet? Give us your thoughts.

Third Option--SpreadCE
Since Pocket Excel does not have enough basic features, SpreadCE has filled in the gap. SpreadCE loads very quickly and has most features readily available while not hogging the RAM (a must for those with 32M of RAM). Personally, I use SpreadCE for about 90 percent for what I do and PlanMaker for the rest.
Another plus when comparing SpreadCE and PTab is that SpreadCE costs a third less. Check out the comparitive chart of many of the spreadsheet programs available for the Pocket PC. I recommend trying SpreadCE's trial which is fully featured and has no expiration date.

Good tip. I'll have to take a look at that sometime soon.

I am sorry, but Planmaker's comparision is not fair - it compares Planmaker with Ptab 2.1 that was replaced in summer 2004 (number of functions, number of rows, outlining etc.). Planmaker is a good product - it is strong in formating/drawing/charting, PTab is also good especially for data manipulation and easy of use - high level macro language, data validation (and comboboxes), fast startup etc.

Lucie,
Stephen Bye notified PlanMaker of some discrepancies on the comparative chart and had the information on the SpreadCE section readily updated by PlanMaker. It wouldn't hurt for the Ptab developer's to contact PlanMaker to update the comparative chart!
