Default PhatPad 2.2 Released

http://www.phatware.com/phatpad/index.html

"PhatPad is an award-winning notes organizer for Microsoft Windows based Pocket, Tablet and Desktop PCs. It allows you to draw pictures, jot text notes, put a mixture of pictures and text, or create simple animation on a virtual scratch pad. The program uses new digital ink technology, which provides a very smooth ink flow, so it feels like you're writing on a piece of paper. While working with the note editor, PhatPad offers standard editing commands, such as Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste; 25%-200% zoom and special Fit to Screen mode; Draw, Select, Drag, Change, and Erase modes; 39-color pen palette; variable pen width; and variable page size. You can export your notes and drawings as bitmap or JPEG images. In addition, PhatPad allows you to store up to 1,000 handwritten pages per single file and add an optional text note. PhatPad also includes a basic shape recognition engine that allows you to draw smooth geometrical shapes, such as rectangles, circles, triangles and straight lines."

PhatPad 2.2 includes a wealthy set of new features. These include: support for PNG images as note backgrounds and as exported notes, improved integration with Calligrapher and PenOffice, improved inking and overall performance, and much more. For the full list, click here. For all Phatpad 2.x users, this new version is a free upgrade - click here for more details. If you're a first time user, Handango is selling it for $29.95. A trial version is also available. [Affiliate]

This seems to be a very worthy update, and I fully support the upgrade police.

I am still hoping that someday we will be able to export the animations as animated gif. In the meantime I see in pocket artist you can create animated gifs using layers as frames. This is a wonderful thing and I am now 50 bucks lighter.

Excellent update - they apparently fixed the bug that would cause all changes to a note to be "lost" if you create a blank page but don't write on it.

PhatPad is pretty cool but this bug caused me to lose a lot of notes if I wasn't careful. I'm glad they fixed it in this release.

Has anyone noticed the PhatPad2005.CAB file that's copied to the PhatPad directory on the desktop when using the desktop installer? The newest-generation installer listed on their device installer site is PhatPad.arm.cab for 2000/2002/2003/2003SE.

Yes I noticed the 2005 cab. I assumed they have the version ready to work with magneto already! ?

Now if I could somehow convince them to make a Today plugin for Phatpad... that would make this application even more awesome.
