Birthdays for Pocket PC Released!
"Features of Birthdays include: incredibly small, shows the birthday of people in your contacts, shows how old the contact will be, and allows you to set how many days to look ahead. Birthdays was written from scratch in C++ using eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0."
Developed by the same person behind Pocket RSS Reader, Birthdays is a very compact today plugin which displays the birthdays of your contacts, as well as some extended birthday information. It's free, so if you're not that impressed by the birthday functionality of the default Calendar plugin, this may be worth a look.

Does it disappear when there are no birthdays to show? HOpe it does not permanently take up Today screen space.

I'd seriously doubt that, as I don't think that's how Today plug-ins are designed to work. To supress them it requires manual user intervention (blame Microsoft, not the developer).
Many thanks to the developer for this. However, I could only get the unstable .CAB file to install on my machine, rather than the stable build (My PPC complained that it wasn't a valid file) but that's no problem for me since the unstable build works beautifully for me.
Good to see other people are still programming in real languages as well

Nope, it doesn't disappear, but not too big either. When no birthdays are within the user-defined range of days it decreases to about 20 pixels in height and says just 'No birthdays'. Resizes per needed space.

I don't know enough people to need a dedicated app to keep track of their birthdays

Well, I suppose you could go through the UPDATE forum and copy down all the PPCT team members birthdays
