I'd bought some of their bundles (from some of the earlier posted promotions) and it turned out at least some of their apps don't yet work with my PDA2k (I'm not sure whether it's the WM2003 SE part or the Phone Edition part that was incompatible). But they did let me know right away and rolled out updates for the Chinese dictionaries soon after.
Anyways, I wish they can make the audio pronounciation of the voice-enabled apps higher in fidelity though. I could be mistaken, but I think some apps (like the Talking Partner Dictionaries) use text-to-speech engine, while other apps (like PhraseBook and Voice Translator) use prerecorded voice samples from native speakers? I'm not sure if it's possible to get the TTS engine to output higher quality speech (even at the optimal voice/rate/pitch settings it sounds garbled sometimes).
But with the prerecorded speech couldn't they use higher-quality sampling --something like MobiLearn.net's Spanish translation apps or even better? Perhaps I'm particularly sensitive because the speaker on my PDA2k might not be the best around (even when listening to MobiLearn's supposedly acclaimed high-quality speech samples I wish it could be better). I did end up also buying MobiLearn's whole suite of Spanish apps (including the medical) for the better speech, but I still rely on LingvoSoft for everything else like Chinese Simplified/Traditional (I also bought Mobem's CE-Star Suite for Chinese support but can't even use it as I'm not fluent, hah!).
I realize higher-quality sampling would require more space, but the current size of most of the LingvoSoft apps already make them large enough where I'm compelled to install all of them to the storage card anyway, and with a 1GB SD card having a 5MB app vs. say a 15MB or even 50MB app doesn't make a big difference to me.

Also it turns out some of the apps use the same shared language/speech database components (for the same language)? In particular that would seem to make the Voice Translator app to be a superset of the PhraseBook app in functionality (even though the two apps use two completely different interfaces), because the former also tries to do speech recognition in addition to the speech output? So if I already installed VT, I shouldn't even bother installing PhraseBook?
I must say though that the speech recognition on the VT (at least for the languages that I've tried) hasn't been accurate enough for me to be useful. Perhaps it's just due to the way I speak...

Thank you for the interest in our products. In regard to your questions: yes, the apps use the same shared language/speech databases. You definitely should install PhraseBook as it also provides additional functionality: for example, full database search, copying records, built-in volume control functions. The level of speech recognition accuracy also depends on audio input quality, not only pronunciation. We are constanly working on increasing recognition accuracy in our apps.
