MaximumSoft Releases WebCopier for Pocket PC 4.2
"Feel the Internet right in your hands. Use this program to download entire Web sites, and view them on your desktop computer or Pocket PC. This version contains a set of new features including complete landscape and high-resolution support for Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition."
For anyone who likes the idea of downloading entire websites for offline viewing or is perhaps frustrated with the limitations of AvantGo, this is worth a real look. Personally, I know that when I'm accessing reference and/or educational pages, I'll sometimes prefer to download those pages for me to read offline at my own leisure rather than being tied to the internet connection and being forced to recall the link if I return. MaximumSoft offers a couple of different pricing options if you're interested: $35 USD with 12 months of free upgrades or $45 USD with free lifetime upgrades. A 15-day trial is also available.

I used Webcopier before, and I didn't like the fact that it does not optimize the web pages for PDA browsing. I just visited their site, and the screenshots give me the impression that that is still the case. I use Sunnysoft's World-off-line and PIE plus and the experience is great.

Good link, Jon.
If I ever get some time I might take that for a spin (busy at work right now). Regardless, it's an alternative to my patchwork of iSilo/plucker/MobiPocket stuff. (I got tired of always getting "timed out errors" in AvantGo, so I've been exploring alternate offline readers/parsers. This is a timely article.)

still not what i'm looking for...
reading about this web page for pocket pc application, and the other ones you have all suggested thus far, I'm still not satisfied.
Before I dish out any money for one of these I want a firefox extension/IE plugin that allows me to do something similar to a bookmark but copies the current page to my pocket pc. There should be an advanced menu for toggling images, link depth, max size to download, and maybe even an expire date where the content automatically is deleted from the device. It should really be a two click process.
It would also be nice to have daily content channels like in avantgo that would downloaded upon every sync (or user defined time period).
I like the idea of being able to read the content in PIE, but why be limited to that? Having it in some standard format that anything could read is ideal.
Anything come close to what I'm describing here?
Until then I'll stick with free avantgo.
I really like the idea of free upgrades for life . I wish there was an option for that in something like PhatPad. Would have saved me some money already.

Yet another web parser...
I think iSilo & Plucker are sufficient tools. I do have a firefox plug-in that allows me to right click on a page and "Pluck This" to my Pocket PC. It uses JPluck which I then read in Vade-Mecum. It's all open source = free.

What are the limitations in using mobile favorites for offline browsing?
Thanks

Mobile favorites are just like the Favorites or "Bookmarks" on your desktop. They are basically just the URL.

I also went with Sunnysoft's World-offline. I like that fact that I can download directly to the PPC. Though that can be slow over GPRS. I also have the option to do it through Wifi or ActiveSync passthrough.
However, I have it installed but found that I haven't used it in a while. Between RSS feeds and unlimited GPRS.
Perhaps I can copy the links that I get with Egress into WOL and use them in conjunction. Hmmm....

I'm trying to learn some Japanese online, and I'm wondering if any of these software solutions will download multimedia links as well. These pages have WAV files linked to them, and it'd be nice to have access to the WAV files offline as well. Anyone know if this or any other software will do this?
