Default LG Pocket PCs On Display at CeBIT 2005

http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/5883.html

"Well, it just so happened that here at CeBIT 2005, Korean manufacturer LG was showing off quite a few interesting products - but apparently happened to suffer from something of a shortage of on-site product managers. Thus, following my finding of two Windows Mobile devices that were sitting in a display case shouting my name, I was left to devise what features they may or may not contain entirely on my own."

Jrgen from infoSync World spotted two next-generation Windows Mobile devices at CeBIT 2005. Suffice to say, the devices look awesome although Jrgen was not able to find out much about them. However, he claims that they are CDMA-based and SDIO capable. One of the devices (labelled, Cyon) has a 2MP camera and a slide-out numerical keyboard. Both come neatly packaged with integrated GPS. I'd love to say more about it, but there's very little information about it at this stage. I'm sure more details will come in as time goes by, so we'll keep you updated. But for now, you have permission to drool over the pictures.

Numerical keypad is good for people like me who prefers to type texts using one hand. Essential for someone who uses the underground on a daily basis.

CDMA's always been getting attention in Korea and the US. Unfortunately, it's nonexistent throughout the rest of the world so it probably won't be getting any more attention than before.

It's actually rather large here in Australia too. The current CDMA network services over 98% of the country's population, and it's quite suitable for those who are out in the rural areas. I wouldn't mind seeing these LGs make its way here, because they certainly appear to be a set of promising devices.

Hmm... I wonder whether they're using 1xEVDO or 1xEVDV for these.

Cyon indicates only that it is manufactured by LG. Cyon is a very large model line that basicaly includes every mobile phone made by LG. Living here in Korea certainly offers one the opportunity to use mobile products that are leaps ahead of what is available in the US. See http://www.cyon.co.kr , I currently use this Cyon model http://www.cyon.co.kr/job/product/pd...p;SMSESSION=NO

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if these were Korea-only releases that never made it to the U.S..
