"MobiControl provides organizations with the tools they need to centrally manage and support their mobile field force. MobiControl is really two products in one: a Mobile Helpdesk integrated with Software Deployment technology."
MobiControl is an evolution of SOTI's popular Pocket Controller product. As well as remotely controlling a device it allows you to centrally manage devices and manage installation of software packages over a variety of network types. This latest update adds improved installation support for a number of custom devices. You can now setup a deployment server which has a different public IP address than locally on the machine making it easier to manage devices over GPRS and other external networks. Finally the update adds better bandwidth management and compression/encryption on data traffic.
I just recently picked up their PocketController. And while I think its a great program, a few things concern me.
1. No way to turn off the client piece on the device.
2. Security and Authentication -- The idea that something like that is sitting on my device waiting to give someone control is a little concerning.
I didn't see any reference to security and authentication under the features list for this product either.
edit: I just went to the comparison chart and the only version lacking security is the Professional.
I definitely think it should be there though.
