Default MP3 Ringtone Patch For HTC Magician

http://www.pocketgear.com/software_...il.asp?id=16569

PPCW.Net reports on a nice freeware ringtone patch for the HTC Magician, that will enable your to select a MP3-file as a ringtone straight from File Explorer. This patch is targeted at the HTC Magician (aka i-Mate Jam / XDA II mini / Qtek S100), so if you have such a device rejoice.

My guess is that since this is really just a plugin for file explorer, the files must be dumped somewhere and then somehow integrated into the OS. The naming of the files doesn't make it sound like just a copy and reset kind of thing.

However on the pocketgear page for it (http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=16569) the developer tells us to soft reset after installing, however he is vague on the actual installing part. Anyone have any ideas?

With CAB files, copy over to the device memory or the storage card, then open it in File Explorer. It will install directly to the PPC.

Is that for setting the default ring tone or user-specific ringtones in the IA Caller ID application?

Whichever... I love the MS Voice Command text-to-speech Caller ID. No need for anything else!

I was reading too deep - I always wondered what was in a CAB file...

I just got my hands on the IMATE Jam -- what a beautiful little device - and Voice Command runs great too. All it needs is a 5GB HDD
