Solterra Demo Released: New 3D Game For Axim X50v
"Solterra is a fast paced 3d space shooter designed for state-of-the-art Pocket PC systems. Gamers on the go can now enjoy cutting-edge, vibrant 3D graphics with classic shooter gameplay on their Dell Axim x50v. The outer colonies of the planet Solterra are suddenly attacked after an alliance goes sour. As the only pilot from Solterra's Interstellar Combat Element in the alien infested sector, players must single handedly prevent the destruction of Solterra...You must now defend your planet and all that you care for! Besides what else are you going to do with your $400 PDA and that awesome Intel 2700g?"

This game uses the X50v's 2700G accelerator to produce amazing-looking graphics (if that one screenshot is any indication). If any of you download the demo and play with it, let us know if it holds up to the hype.

Click the media link for screen shots. The above picture is actually concept art, not a screen shot. The game looks kind of like the shooters we have currently seen on ppc but with hardware blending and finer resolution due to being vga. Hopefully its just a crummy engine, the land rendering is horrible with a draw distance of like 40 feet. ^^

Not a bad demo on the x50v. Not great and obviously needs a lot of work on it.
Good to see somebody writing for 2700G.

Doesn't look too bad... however, it was off my system as fast as it went on as it does not allow button configuration. And it's default configuration is unacceptable.
Actually why doesn't every action game allow complete button customization. Not a couple of button "sets", but allowing me to remap any function to any button(with the possible exeption of the joypad)?

I would have to say that visually this was pretty cool, the distance that objects get drawn isn't to far away but it is a Pocket PC after all. I was impressed at how great it looked on my x50v.
It did seem unfinished but it's definitely a great start.
I have to admit I had a hard time shooting things but seemed to run into everything. Maybe I'm not used to these types of games but the targeting is kind of difficult.
Cool game though and visually very impressive. Can't wait to see the final version!

Welcome D3V and thanks for that. The screenshots look good and I look forward to giving them a go soon.
