Default CNET Play With the Bluespoon AX Bluetooth Headset

http://reviews.cnet.com/Nextlink_Bl...-2.html?tag=tab

"When you think of wireless Bluetooth headsets, the first thing that comes to mind are those sometimes ugly, often bulky devices that resemble props from Star Trek. While they're no doubt useful, not everyone appreciates their conspicuousness. Thank heavens then for Danish design."

We've posted on the Bluespoon AX many times before, and amidst all the excitement, CNET managed to whip up a short review on it. Have a read of it here.

"0.3 gram" is a typo on the CNET page there. More like 10 grams, but still that's nothing. Love my little AX.

There are more than 1 typo. The AX isn't offered in "clear". The clear AX was used in the beta version.

For right now, you can have it in any color you want as long as it's "black". Speaking of which I recently had a chance to meet with the head of engineer for Nextlink - Jon gave me the one and only red AX any where.

Have a look:

(a little ad for SmartFone.com)
http://www.SmartFone.com is selling the Bluespoon AX for $104.95 which inlcude free shipping for all US residence.[/url]

I kinda like the blinking light on my head. People are already leery of me and the big borg-like blinking blue light makes it even better

This looks like a neat little headset, but I have a problem with headsets that look like this one, and the problem is that they never stay in my ear.

I've found over time that the only headsets that actually work for me are the ones made by Jabra and Plantronics (the ones that loop over the back of my ear). My current headset of choice is the Plantronics M2500, and I couldn't be happier with it.

I'd love to try the Bluespoon, but I can't get over the pre-disposition I have that it'll never actually stay on.

The clear ones were being sold by some retailers though including Pilcon. It was just a special limited edition kind and no longer available.

Mixmaven at HoFo has a bunch of different colored ones too.

He's also done a number of custom paint and rubberized versions:

Aparently, it's pretty easy to take the plastic shells off and repaint.

For fitting of the Bluespoon you reallly have to customize the softspring. The newer springs are firmer, allowing for a tighter fit. Once you get the right sized softspring, it will be very comfortable and never fall out. At least it hasn't for me.

That's interesting that the "clear" version of the AX was being sold retail. I know for a fact the the earlier models had an echo problem. Thank goodness the issue is fixed in the production model.

Here are some pictures of the clear AX.

In case you're curious, here's my first impression of the AX:

And here are some pictures of Lars (president of Nextlink) and Jon (head of Nextlink's engineering):

Notice the difference in size between the AX and the 5G!!!
