Default 123 Flash Chat Pocket PC Module Released

http://www.123flashchat.com/pocket-...anner-chat.html

"Have you ever thought of embedding a mini-chatroom to your webpage to establish connections between your business and visitors? TopCMM 123 Flash Chat now presents the new solution, a chat module that can be used for Pocket PC or Banner Chat."

So how does this free module work? Webpages featuring the banner chat module can open up a Java-based chat network and Pocket PCs featuring the mobile chat module can interface with this chat network and allow for the sending and receiving of messages on-the-go. The Pocket PC module itself is small in size and has support for different skins. Would any of you use this?

Send a message via MSN to Foo Fighter

That screenshot looks a like the leaked "Magneto" images.

Hmm...does anyone know if there are Flash IRC clients? If not, would that be possible? Seems like an easy solution, as most flash runs faster than Java.

I remember trying out PocketIRC a while ago. It's not Flash-based but it's not slow. Give that a go if you're after a decent IRC client.

I prefer chat apps that run as a normal webpage, so any browser can access them. Most users can't be bothered with installing dedicated clients.

On a tangential note, the screenshot shows the chat input at the bottom of the screen, which is undesirable for users that like the pop up keyboard. Every time you want to write a message, the page will either have to jump up a third of the screen (which can cause screen refresh problems, as well as eyestrain) or, even worse, the input box gets masked.
(I'm talking in general here, I haven't used the app in question).

So, screen designers, please put an option to have input boxes at the top of the screen!

Give a try to PocketIRC ( http://pocketirc.com/ ), it's by far the best IRC client, and, unlike with most Flash/Java clients, you can connect to the 'traditional' IRC networks (IRCNet, EFNet, Dalnet etc.). And yes, it's not Java either but a native PPC app.

A free alternative is Pocket Chat ( http://www.sspocketchat.com/ ); version 2.0 is said to come soon. Version 1.x is, on the other hand, pretty lousy compared to PocketIRC. It may be worth signing up the Smartsft newsletter to be notified it when it comes - PocketIRC still has a lot of omissions and shortcomings.

Fortunately, in PocketIRC, once SW keyboard switched on, it always stays there, so it is never hidden (meaning no eyestrain).

Furthermore, it works great in forced VGA mode on VGA devices, landscape-compliant and the character size is settable to be used on VGA devices without problems.
