Default E-TEN M500 Pocket PC Phone Officially Launched

http://www.slashphone.com/71/1306.html

We've posted on it before, but it looks like the E-TEN M500 is actually available on the market... in Taiwan at least. ;-) In case you don't remember, the M500 is a really compact unit, with a 2.8" QVGA screen, quad-band GSM/GPRS, and Bluetooth.

People in Taiwan have started getting their hands on it. Here's one "unpacking" review of the unit, and here's a few more pictures. Neither are in English, but they're primarily picture posts anyway. No clue if or when it'll be available elsewhere in the world.

Dear Abby,

I want every Pocket PC Phone that's been announced lately, but I definitely don't have the money to satisfy this itch I have to own the latest and greatest PE phones. Is there anything I can do?

Signed,

Madly Wanting in the Bronx

Dear, Madly Wanting in the Bronx,

I have had many letter from people with the same problem as you. It seems to be growing rather quickly.

My suggestion to overcome this addiction is that every time you order one of these new devices you have it sent to me. Hopefully in time we can cure you of this nagging problem.

Regards
Uber Abby

Sweet device... Kinda like the i-mate Jam with quadband. I wish it had WiFi...

looks a bit like a SE P900 without the flip... imo the package has better contents though it has a cradle the jam doesn't. The branding could've been done better the big ETEN thing is not so nice but this is just my opinion.

I imagine if a carrier decides to subsidize this one, that'll change, and either that big honkin' logo will disappear entirely or you'll see the carrier's logo there.

Well, for what I can see right now, this thing brings in some serious competition for the Imate-Jam... at least when it comes to ranks in my personal wishlist... oh my.
Yeah, the WiFi wouldn't be bad. But that's something I could do without, if battery life, performance AND form factor are right.

Gotta go and count some pennies.

K.

Looks like an OEM version of the JAM (or vice versa), down to the button layout !
