Default Skat Desktop - Helping Those in Need

http://www.pocketgear.com/software_...associateid=204

Here's a bit more eye-candy for your Pocket PC. Skat Desktop is an all-in-one Today plug-in, clock and task management utility. It has full support for Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (landscape and VGA fully supported). Themes are frequently updated, so if you do try this product out, you may want to keep an eye on them. PocketGear is selling the application for $9.95, and 20% of the sales profit will be donated to the victims of the recent tsunami disaster in Asia. [Affiliate]

Everyone is shocked by the events in South East Asia and every help is needed. But I really wonder if this one is not to help some sales figures than victims. There are certain things I don't like with this charitable idea.

The product costs 9.95 US$. PocketGear keeps a significant share of it. The remaining rest is then the sales result. What the sales profit is the 20% for donations are being taken from is entirely unclear.

I would say if one hasen't donated for the Tsunami victims or wants to donate a bit more, there are so many better ways. And a vendor that advertises this to drive its sales appears a bit suspect to me. They should just donate some of their profits.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying that there isn't a charible thought behind this idea... to me it just appears to be not a very well thought through one.

Default Skat Desktop

It's just a way of saying we care for what's going on and we feel that
something should be done about it. The idea of starting it on our website
is also to remind people of the events and they can do something about it.
We have also decided to donate all of profits earned from Dec2004 to
Jan2005 to the Thai Red Cross Society.

PS. now We have new version of Skat Desktop (1.1.9)
at http://www.skatppc.com
