50% Wool. 100% Gadget.

It looks like a beanie. It smells like a beanie. It works like a beanie. But there's something else to it. Something no other beanie can offer! Judie Hughes at Gadgeteer had a look at this beanie otherwise known as the Burton Headphone Beanie. Within each earflap is a Burton-branded speaker which connects to your media player (whether it be your Pocket PC or iPod) and delivers hard-pumping tunes right into your ear canals! For $39.95, those of you suffering the wintry blues can now keep warm and listen to music all at the same time. Personally, I'd have no use for it. I just sat through a hot and sticky 42C/108F day earlier in the week. The last thing I'd need is a beanie on my head. :P Regional climatic disparities aside - it was an interesting read nonetheless. So head on over to Gadgeteer to get the full lowdown.

Looks like they sell these at a local sporting goods store. I'm going to bring my Neuros over and try one out before buying. I'll let y'all know if I get one, and how it sounds.

Yeah, I'd be interested to see what the audio quality is like for a $39.95 outfit. The suggested 20-20,000Hz range isn't anything fantastic for the audio buff, but for makeshift use in the winter, I suppose it'd be a cool thing to have nonetheless.

The guys at Gadgeteer said it has great sound quality. Dunno whether they actually compared the sound quality to anything else, e.g., Grado SR80 (ok, that's a bit more expensive, but prolly the best value for its price). I'd buy this thing too (it's quite cold in here and we have to wear at least caps at least 5-6 months a year) but I'm concerned about the highs - even the thinest textile filters out most of the highs/bass (this is why I'm pretty spectical about this one), and in this cap, the speakers ARE separated from the ears by a textile layer.
