The Need for Speed on the HP iPAQ h1940/h1945
No. I wasn't referring to the actual game running on the h1940/h1945. ;-) I was actually referring to HP's latest release: an SD Card Driver Update for the h1940/h1945, which according to the download page, increases the read-time performance for some SD cards. I don't think you can disregard an update that boosts performance, so why not head over to HP and grab the update for yourself? You can download it here.

I can't even download it in the first place. I've tried for 2 days and the download never seems to start 8O :?
I wonder if they have removed the file. Can anyone confirm if they have downloaded it successfully?

I can download it. Of course, it doesn't do me much good as I don't have a 1900 series iPaq.

Thanks for the confirmation.
Indead, the SD initialisation speed has increased noticeably after this patch.
But the problem with shortcut icons(those linking to programs installed on SD Card) failing to load on the start menu still persists. :?
I also did some Card Benchmark tests using Pocket Mechanic. I can't notice any noticeable increase in performance though

I think the greatest performance boosts will come by way of those using SDIO cards (in particular, Wi-Fi ones), and perhaps high-performance SD cards as well.

I installed it on my 1945 and have immedialty noticed an improvement. I am using a Sandisk 256MB sd card. I have a library of books on the card and it has been very sluggish. It is fast now.

Doesn't work on the ipaq 1930, which is weird because in most other things that device is considered identical to the 1940/1945 series

It's not designed for the h1930. Sure, it's part of the h19xx series, but the update is specifically designed for only the h1940 and the h1945.
