Default JAVOedge Jumps on the Bluetooth Folding Keyboard Bandwagon

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.a...?ContentId=3779

"JAVOedges new flagship product line, the Bluetooth JAVO Keyboard works with most Bluetooth enabled PDA, Pocket PC and smartphones. With a full QWERTY keyboard complete with arrow keys, it allows users to navigate through menus, write e-mail. The keyboard comes in a foldable layout and measures only 14.18 x 9.53 x 1.99 cm (5.58 x 3.75 x 0.79 inches) when closed and 27.88 x 9.53 x 0.92 cm (11.98 x 3.75 x 0.36 inches) when fully open."

At this rate, I think we may see a Hello Kitty Bluetooth Folding Keyboard before long. There's a swell animation of the keyboard opening and closing on the JAVOedge site. Summary: It's all foldey and stuff. The JAVOedge keyboard will set you back $125 American dollars.

Default Is there one that works with the Toshiba Bluetooth stack?

Does anyone know if this keyboard will work with the toshiba e830? Toshiba, could you redo your bluetooth stack?!!??! I love my e830 and I even use the bluetooth on it with my laptop and my mobile phone but the bluetooth will not work with my wireless headset or any keyboard i've tried - ok I tried two keyboards, hp's and thinkoutsides.

Can anyone help me find a keyboard? Please let me know if this or any other works with the e830.

Thanks!

This is an email response that I got from the Freedom Keyboard crew:

There is no reason at all to believe that the keyboard will not work. I would suggest downloading the updated driver first from our web site www.freedominput.com

The only thing you might have to do is "Bond" the devices, full instructions are given.

I have an old iPaq 3850 which I have had to buy a Bluetooth adaptor for it it works happily with the keyboard

Please feel free to contact me with any further instructions.

It doesn't sound like they've tested it. So anyone could be the first one to find out the truth. I also own the Thinkoutside/Dell keyboard althought I haven't tried it yet on my e830.

I read somewhere that the Thinkoutside/Dell may not work with the x50v which raises my eyebrows.

I sent an email to ThinkOutside asking why their keyboard doesn't work with the e830 and if they are planning to rectify the situation. I'm waiting for a response.

I'm resisting the urge to just buy the Freedom keyboard and try it. Although I'm hoping someone will beat me to the punch.

I like this comment on their site most:

Perfect for bluetooth enabled PDAs, PPCs, and Smart phones
Apparently, a PocketPC is not the same as a PDA
Of course it isn't ! It's so much more...it's my artificial brain

I emailed think outside about their keyboard not working too. They replied and said it was because of the toshiba bluetooth stack and toshiba not giving them information they need to make it work. I don't get that at all but apparently Toshiba's bluetooth stack isn't very hunan interface device friendly. thinkoutside never told me their keyboard would work and were not surprised when I told them it didn't. HP on the other hand was pretty confident that their keyboard would work with my e830 ("yeah, any pocket pc with 2003se). So now, I don't know what to think. I also emailed the last company that there was a posting about them having a bluetooth keyboard (also includiing the number keys which I like). After a few days they emailed me back and said their keyboard would not work.

Anyone from Toshiba reading this? How about a new bluetooth stack that works with keyboards!!! But please don't break the compatiblity my bluetooth has now with my mobile phone and my laptop!!!!

sojourner753, thanks for your post! I'll have to let you know if I give theirs a try. I need to start sending these bad ones back but I'm still hoping I'll get one to work. Close to $300.00 is a lot of money to have tied up in nonworking keyboards though
