Default Universal Thumbboard

http://netppc.dealhitech.com/p.php3...sel%20PKB%20800

I'm a big fan of thumbboards. I have had one for almost every Pocket PC I've ever owned, and I'm a huge fan of the Treo form factor mainly because of its great thumbpad. The problem with thumbboards is that they add a bit of size to your PDA, but generally I don't mind because they provide an easy way of typing text when using my foldable keyboard is too much a hassle, like when there's no desk I can use. Another problem with thumbboards is that you'd have to get a new one every time you get a new device. So when I read about a universal thumbboard by Yondwin on Net PPC (Google autotranslate), I was quite happy since it could deal with one of those problems. When I read it used IR, I was in doubt. How did they do that? Well, they just add a little (....) bit more in size. 8O This monster is currently not available outside Taiwan. What do you think, should it be?

wow.. thats, big.

Actually, if they made it just a bit bigger, you could do landscape with it. And if they make it just a bit bigger than that, you could use it for your laptop too

I applaud thier dedication and effort (look at all those keys, and spaced far enough apart that you may actually be able to type on it versus some of the boards i have seen), and look forward to a bluetooth variety that is compatible with my t610 phone. Maybe a little smaller for the phone though.

8O That's almost a whole fist board!

imo, the sole advantage to a thumbiard is it's small size. This product kinda defeats that advantage.

Yikes...that is ugly.

I am a big fan of thumboards on PDA's. Some of my favorite PDA's, (4355, TG50, Treo 90) were equipped with thumboards. I think that for most people it is an easier means of entering text.

Unfortunately, though, most add-on thumboards are too cumbersome to be of much use. And this monstrosity...if you're going to haul that big an accessory around, it may as well be a full-size keyboard.

Wow, this is going to be an interesting thread.

Well first off it looks like a thumb board build especially for the Jolly Green Giant.
Secondly it looks really dumb and ugly and also seems awkward to use.
Lastly if it doesn't come with blinking lights then they can keep it in Taiwan.

But maybe the reason it's that large is because they use vacuum tubes instead of silicon. Looks like an early HeathKit project of a transistor radio.

Default Heck with that...

Call me when someone creates a device that lets the PPC take voice dictation and translate that into text. With the latest smaller, cheaper memory available, it should be only a matter of time before Dragon Naturally Speaking is built into every PPC.
