Default Refurbished Dell Axims for Cheap-Cheap

http://outlet.us.dell.com/Dispatche...srcDetail=offer

Looking for a new Pocket PC but don't have wads of cash? Dell has some impressively inexpensive Axims on their refurbished site, featuring a $50 discount. Models including an X5 for $139 and an X3i for $208. Worth a look!

Cheapest is an x5 basic for $115. Not bad for dipping your toe in the PPC water.

I browsed new PDAs while I was there. Seems they have Encyclopeadia Brittanica for PDA as an option ...

No mention in the description that it will actually RUN on a PocketPC. Looks like someone goofed on Copy/Paste ...

Yep. A lot of it has to do with OS-based optimisations of the processor. WM2003 did a fantastic job on increasing performance of the PPC, in comparison to past versions of the PPC OS. However, having said that, some WM2003SE devices are still performing a little slower than some WM2003 devices. :? Hopefully, WM2005 will shed new light.

Are 623 MHz Axims really noticably faster than a 312 MHz? Or is it just psychological?

When you have numbers like that, nothing's psychological!

You will only truly notice the advantage with high-demanding applications (including games as well). A year ago, there were very few applications that demanded a lot from the processor. However, move the time forward to this present day and there is a change. While there are still many low-demanding applications out there, a lot of new releases are demanding quite a bit from the processor, so with 624MHz, you can notice the difference. Give another year, and I can almost guarantee that the 624MHz would have been the better investment over the 312MHz unit. Applications are now starting to demand a lot more since newer PPCs have specs that well and truly deliver performance.
