Default Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide 2005 Reviewed

http://www.pocketpcreviews.net/revi.../movieguide.htm

"If you have a choice of 20,000 similar products which will have a very dissimilar end result when consumed, you need a guide. Any guide will be better than none at all but few in the know will disagree that, when it comes to movies, Leonard Maltin is the Oracle. So when LandWare teamed up with Leonard to craft the ultimate Movie Guide, did they deliver?"

Is it just me, or does Leonard Maltin seem to be everywhere these days? I swear I saw "Leonard Maltin's Guide to Crawfish Production 2005" just the other day...or maybe I imagined it. Anyway, PocketPCReviews.net has done their review thing on Mr. Maltin's latest offering. Overall, it looks pretty good, and I'm tempted to buy it myself. I'm particularly enticed by the ability to create your own lists. I'd pay for that. The review is very well written with lots of screenshots, so do yourself a favor and check it out.

I just bought it four days ago, and it's been great. However, I cannot seem to get it to sync with the server to get updates. Anyone else having similar problems?

Mine has been sycing without any issues. I'm also behind a router.

I used to pruchase Maltin's book every year or so. It's the very same information as what is in the book. When I saw it was available for the PDA, I had to purchase it! Although it seemed like a lot of money, it is 10 times more useful than the book with it's search capabilities.

I bought it a month or so ago and would say it is definitely worth the price. Aside from the obvious of checking out reviews for movies, there have been several occasions when I've been able to settle a debate on who was in a certain movie or just answer a question along those lines. When those things come up, it's pretty fun to be able to pull out the ol' PPC and answer the question on the spot. But the thing I most use is being able to maintain lists of movies I want to see so that I can walk into the video rental store and go grab a good movie from the cheaper 'not just released' section that I still want to see. It's also nice to have a list of the movies I own so if I see a sale on DVDs, I don't accidentally buy a second copy of something.

Yea, I have done that as well. Only when I do it, they make comments about what a "geek" I am, and I work for IT!

 Just keep at it and they'll give up eventually. Reference material is my first love for my iPaq and between the encyclopedia, two dictionaries, world almanac, etc., my friends have gotten used to my pulling the thing out to answer questions. They hardly ever laugh any more!
