PDAGold Reviews the Asus A730
"Having spent a weekend with it, I must admit that the Asus MyPal A730 is a very good device. It is designed for people who require VGA resolution but consider an integrated WiFi module unnecessary luxury. All the features except for the weak battery will most likely meet requirements of the target customers. The highlights include an excellent display and audio features. On the other hand, I would expect a larger memory - 33 MB is too little for a device of this category. In any case, if you are planning to buy a new VGA pocket device, you should not leave the A730 unnoticed."

A weak battery, and only 33MB of RAM!?! Sorry, but that sounds like a knockout combination to this machine.

Wifi is much higher on my list than VGA. Phone with Bluetooth is also much higher on my needs. I will NOT be getting a A730 anytime soon. I have lots of faith in Asus, just this product isn't for me.

The A730w addresses both of these concerns (and keeps the great design & screen).

I remember reading it would be $100 more than the A730, but that was just speculation. Sadly I think it will be well out of my price range, but the A730w does look like the best of the new VGA devices IMHO.

Yeah, as of right now I'm trying to decide between the Dell x50v and the Asus a730w. I want to wait untill reviews are out though on the a730w though. If the x50v had 128MB of RAM, it would be a done deal and I'd already have it ordered.
The pluses for the x50v are the cheaper price ($500 vs an estimated $600), faster processor (624 vs 520), graphics chip, and made by a US manufacter (should be easier to access support, service and will probably have more available accesories).
For the a730w the pluses are more RAM (128MB vs 64MB) and an integrated camera (1.3 megapixel; although I have a 5 megapixel camera that I use and gives me the quality I want, it would be nice to always have a camera with me to take a photo when the photo opportunity arrises).
To me, the camera is a convinience and a nice thing to have, but not a deal-breaker, so basically it comes down to the RAM issue. I just don't know how the x50v with perform for me with only 64 MB of RAM. I know I wish I had more than 64 MB of RAM on my HP 2215. If anyone can explain to me why the x50v will do better than the HP2215 with the same amound of RAM, I'd love to hear why.

Just another note on the Asus a730w. Proportable.com has it for preorder for $600 and says the ETA is Mid November (which is what Dell said for the delivery of the x50v when I went through the order process, but didn't actually complete the order).
