2.2" VGA Screen Announced
Casio Japan has announced that they've developed a 2.2", 640x480 screen. We're talking a 368dpi screen here. 8O Obviously, you're not going to run Windows Mobile with its default fonts on such a screen, but I'm all for higher resolutions -- given proper font/image management, you'll have razor-sharp images on screens like this. Imagine, 5 years from now, when your phone or your watch will have absolutely perfect, laser-sharp typography. It's easier on the eyes, and of course looks amazing. 8)

You can get an English translation of the article here.

I guess there won't be any need for Clear Type on this display.
368 dpi - that has to be close to printed quality. I think this does open the door for a WM Smartphone with VGA, though it may not be real useable for the PPC version. It would seem to me that it would be hard to hit the right pixels with a stylus if they are this small.

That's 1024x768 on a 3.52" screen. Add quick-and-easy zoom/pan functionality and you could have the ultimate remote desktop device in the formfactor of an HP4155.

That is exactly what I was thinking... how about 1024x768 on a 3.7 inch screen... all we need now is a low energy consumption processor and a via battery to match it...

I'm up for that too! Although I'm sure we'll see 800x600 first, before 1024x768 comes in. I love high resolutions...it brings bliss to my eyes.

I really don't think I could even see the pixels at that point. But I also am not sure that I need VGA in that size. Well, maybe as the display on the inside of my sunglasses or something that interfaces with my bionic brain implants.
