Default Jazz Up Your Pocket PC With FlashDash

http://www.handango.com/brainstore/...roductId=139905

"FlashDash is a dazzling new Today Screen replacement system for Pocket PC 2002 and Windows Mobile 2003 devices. It integrates the most popular Today screen features into the desktop of tomorrow, today...FlashDash includes the Bluesteel interface designed by TRUTH in Design and co-developed by Gigabyte Solutions Ltd, using the FlashDash API. Bluesteel is licensed exclusively from TRUTH In Design. Because FlashDash recreates and improves the Today screen, the whole of the original Today screen can be used for displaying 3rd party Today plug-ins. Additional interfaces will be available soon to completely transform the look and feel of FlashDash."

This comprehensive program has a boat-load of features, including full-screen animated themes, a theme manager with preview, date/time applet, owner information applet, battery/memory displays, a task manager, and a lot more. This program looks amazingly comprehensive, so I'm looking forward to reading a review of it - and we just happen to have one coming up tomorrow right here on Pocket PC Thoughts.

Hmmm interesting app. One question.
How much space does it take up and how much memory does it use while its running? I can't seem to find that info on their site. There's a reason I stopped using www.objectdesktop.com on my laptop and desktop and that's because it was killing the performance. Last thing I would want to do is kill the speed of my pocket pc for a few bells and whistles.

Default Memory usage

Hi

The space used on the device is around 4mb for all themes installed, but they can be deleted if you don't like it.

When running FlashDash takes around 6mb of memory. Additional themes can add to this but we have no control over theme authors.

If you are unsure, then download the free trial available from the site and try it for yourself. It is a fully functional trial.

It will not impact device performance since FlashDash freezes all Flash processing when the Today screen is not visible. It does work best with a modern Pocket PC with a minmum of 32mb of RAM and we highly recommend 64mb.

Regards

Nice looking program. The tasks and appointments don't display on the screen even though they appear on the normal today screen. Is this a limitation of the trial version?

Hmmmm...this company better be really careful, I can swear I've seen Blue Steel trademarked by someone else already...

Your 4 MB for themes doesn't include the demo, does it? I don't see them anywhere.

I bought the full version (used the 15% pocket pc thoughts subscriber discount for handango) - it has got a lot of features but my pocket pc feels a little sluggish.

You need to change the directory in the options menu to "my documents to see the new themes"

I cant find a way of showing my worldmate plugin on the new today screen though
