Default SiDiaryPPC: Diabetes Management Software

http://www.sidiary.org/sidiary/en/default.asp

"SiDiary is a diabetes management software (not only) for diabetics. With this application you can track all of your diabetes data (i.e. blood glucose levels, ketones, carb intake, injected basal and/or bolus insulin or pills, blood pressure, weight etc.) on your mobile device (Pocket PC) and/or on your Windows-based desktop computer. SiDiary gives you graphical feedback about the quality of your diabetes parameters (either on your Pocket PC and desktop computer) and helps to improve your diabetes. In addition to several sums (of insulin, carbs etc.) it calculates an A1C approximate value which is pretty important for each diabetic. Since this parameter is just an approx. value based on the data tracked with SiDiary, it couldn't replace an A1C value taken and analized by your lab! SiDiary can replace your diabetes (paper) log book but it cannot tell you how to handle your diabetes!"

The developer has created this application to replace his own paper log book. First he developed the Pocket PC version, but later he added a PC version to enhance value entry and printing. Both versions are offered as freeware. Pocket PC 2003 devices will need the eVB runtime to be installed next to the application.

 Now that is a coincidence! I was looking for software to help me keep track of my glucose levels (who wants to use paper!) after I finally bought myself a glucose meter yesterday (a LifeScan OneTouch UltraSmart for those who are interested).

For reasons best known to themselves Lifescan don't sell the data interface cable or the software for the UltraSmart in Europe yet, although you can get them in the US (but isn't that always the way?).

So thank you Marlof and thank you Alf!

Just surfin' around and I'm wide-eye about a screenshot from my app

As far as I know, Ls is telling the european diabetics that their cable doesn't meet some approval requirements, something like a electrostatic problem, but who really knows. I'm still waiting for an Ls-answer about a direct interface SiDiary<->OTUS with that cable...but they seem to be not interested in a freeware reading OTUS-values...

If someone with diabetes reads this article and is also working with a windows enabled smartphone (QTek, Orange, MVP): I will start a new beta-test with a migrated SiDiary version hopefully in the next 2 or 3 weeks and still looking for some diabetics who are interested in it...

Bye, Alf.
