HP Taking Orders For iPAQ 6315?
Jeremiah, from MobileSlash, reports that HP's Small Business Store is now listing the iPAQ 6315 for preordering.
If you add it to the cart and check it out, the estimated ship date is September 9th. That's not too far away. 8)

Don't know about Dave, but there is no mention of a service provider on the HP site and I got up to where it wanted my credit card without it ever mentioning a specific service provider. I would have to assume then it is unlocked. At least for now.

I'd tend to think it is locked... looking on that 6315 page in the link mentioned in the article, there's an HTML Quickspec that does mention:
Models
HP iPAQ Pocket PC h6315 64-MB SDRAM GSM/GPRS, WLAN, Bluetooth, Camera
FA239A#ABA US Commercial, English (T-Mobile service provider version)
iPAQ Pocket PC h6310 64-MB SDRAM, GSM/GPRS, WLAN, Bluetooth, no Camera
FA203A#ABA US Commercial, English (T-Mobile service provider version)
Dunno. :?

Was browsing at HPs Faqs http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pscmi...faq_h6300.html and noticed a couple of things that might be important to some folks. These might be old news, but they are specifically answered here.
Quote:
Q . Is the GSM/GPRS dual band or tri-band?
A . Its actually QUAD band. This international GSM phone supports 850, 900,1800,1900 MHz.
|
I think this makes ATT folks happy?
Quote:
Q . Why integrate a camera in a device that may be used in an enterprise environment? Most companies do not want their employees bringing any kind of camera into the workplace.
A . We offer the customer a choice between having an integrated camera and not having a camera in the h6300. This satisfies both an enterprises requirements, and a consumers interests. There are also certain fields that find an integrated camera beneficial, and we have had customer feedback asking for us to integrate a camera (real estate, etc,) so we now have a model that satisfies that customer need.

When that one shows up, I'll be tempted to try my first converged device.
That faq also outlines the T-Mobile relationship, but doesn't come out and say the device is locked to that carrier. Macht nichts to me, that is my carrier. Guess the first guy to get one needs to find a friend with an ATT SIM and try it.

It may be quicker to get it from T-Mobile directly. They did set up that web site to "buy it early".
HP originally said Aug 26th. Also, the below link says the same thing. I wonder who's right? If it is September 9th, then HP must be taking lessons from Dell with "buy it now, ship it much later"

I really really wonder how many HP will sell of these, since they already announced that WM2003SE will NOT be released for these 6315's.

Why would no SE make such a huge difference? Most people really don't care, I know I don't about SE on mine.
