Street Duel: Underground Racing Released and Previewed
Pixelogic Ltd have released "Street Duel: Underground Racing", a new 3D driving game for Pocket PC. Based on the street racing subculture, the game involves racing over rooftops, performing spectacular jumps, and smashing through traffic in the pursuit of winning the ultimate performance supercar. Features include:
- Full screen 3D graphics.
- Proper physics engine with rigid body dynamics and accurate collision detection.
- 9 different vehicles each with their own unique handling
characteristics.
- Ability to perform handbrake turns and lurid powerslides, complete with skidmarks, suspension, tyresmoke, brakelights, etc.
- Over 32 races and challenges.
So, the game certainly looks decent and there's a demo available for you perusal. Just remember not to get sucked into the dark street racing subculture while playing it. PDArchade got hold of an early copy of the game and have a fair sized preview up at their site. Overall, they do seem to like it. So, worth a download then?
"The team at Pixelogic has clearly applied their expertise in programming as well as artwork gained from developing top console games onto the Pocket PC. They have also managed to operate nicely within Pocket PC limitations for instance, the whole game takes less than 3mb of storage space, miles less than many of the other 3D pocket pc games. The result of Pixelogic's work, from my perspective, is a game, which should dazzle the owners of Pocket PCs, in terms of graphics, gameplay and *fun factor*"

It looks very nice.
What this really makes me wish is that Tapwave would have used the WM platform instead of Palm for it's portable game platform. The Zodiac is a killer form factor for playing this type of game, and there is a much larger library of these "3D" style games already developed for the WM platform.
Why hasn't anyone developed a WM device targeted at gamers? Nearly every device out there has issues with button presses, small, too sensitve d-pads, etc.....

The game is very nice. Have been playing it for 15 minutes now. I prefer the graphics on Michael Schumacher Racing Kart 2002 but the physics on this is better.
The game works well with the right side of the LCD being used as a controller.

I guess it wouldn't be too hard to make a clip on D-pad and buttons etc. That would be a good product to make and market...
