Default New iPAQs Strut Their Stuff at Malaysian Product Launch

http://forum.mypdacafe.com/viewtopi...619e7ad27c80240

What do you call a group of Pocket PCs? A herd? A pod? A pride? In the case of the new iPaq lineup, they're getting called many things, not all of them good. Whatever descriptive adjective you care you use, mypdacafe has the goods in the form of a ton of pictures taken at HP's Asia Pacific product launch in Penang, Malaysia. There are quite a few comparison shots that give a good indication of the size of the units, and also some shiny happy people. Thoughts?

Well the ad is up in one Malaysian daily and the prices quoted are similar to the US price. (I am in Malaysia right now) Price is RM2488 (US$650). The h6365 is RM2788.

Bizzarely this is the second ad I saw that states that the OS on the rz1710 is Windows Mobile 2003 and not SE. Other devices like the rx3417, rx3715, h6365 and hx4700 has the SE but not the rz1710. This ad is an official HP ad. If that is so then what I thought was the only saving grace for the model is non-existent.

I would not be terribly concerned that the HP ad does not specifically say it has SE or not...

The official US HP site says this about the h2215:

"Enjoy system stability and a user-friendly interface with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition"

http://www.shopping.hp.com/cgi-bin/h...8ZP&catLevel=3

That's good for a luagh!!!

And the US site about the rz17xx series says it runs SE:

http://www.shopping.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpdirect/shopping/scripts/product_detail/product_detail_view.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1746517506.1091769937@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdjadcmejmlhijcfngcfkmdfondfgf.0&landing=handhelds&category=handhelds&subcat1=handhelds&product_code=FA290A%23ABA&catLevel=3"

Well, if the group of Pocket PC's are iPAQ's, lets make it simple and call them "boxes"

Default ENOUGH ALREADY!

Man can we nail HP anymore? I personally have seen enough of wah wah wah HP's new iPaqs suck. I think they have gotten the message.

The only one that deserves flack is the rz1700 series. It's overpriced....period.

Is it me or does the design of these look like what HP would have brought out if they had NOT bought Compaq? In any case, let's let the damn things become available and then slam them again.

Lets quit complaining that HP is moving on. Just realize it is time to break up and find a new love. Get over it.
