Version 3.0 of Connect2 Software
When I'm using both my Pocket PC and my mobile phone, I always like to keep my mobile phone in my pocket as much as possible. That's why I find it really cool that I'm able to control my mobile phone through my Pocket PC. One of the applications that can help me there is connect2phone, of which version 3.0 has been released. You can use it to for SMS handling, managing your phonebook and dialing phone numbers. Another product by the same developer is connect2internet, which offers the same GSM dialer, a GPRS connection manager and also a full blown GPRS traffic monitor. The connect2internet PRO version combines the functionality of both other applications. Version 3 of these programs requires WM2003, so if you have Pocket PC 2002, you should use the previous version 2.6. connect2phone and connect2internet come at a price of EUR 24,95, and connect2internet PRO is EUR 39,95.

and i can't justify dropping 40 bucks w/o trying first (probably even w/ trying at that price point

It looks like a great app. One thing I do not understand is why someone would use SMS messaging on a PDA when you can use LPAD or POP3/SMTP messaging. In the US all the providers charge 10 cents or less for every SMS message. POP3/SMTP are free, they do use part you your data plan if you do not have unlimited data.

At least with me: my SMS box does not have a corresponding e-mail address. The same goes for my brother. So if I want to contact my brother, who has nothing but a simple phone, all I can do is send him an SMS message. And composing that SMS message using my Pocket PCs SIP for me is far easier than using a phone keyboard, even with T9.

All the phone providers in the US associate a real email address to a phone. Here are some examples.
T-Mobile - [email protected]
AT&T - [email protected]
Verzion - [email protected]
You connect to your GPRS provider over BT or IR and use Outlook in the PPC to send messages with out fees. Outlook supports three email addresses.

As said: I don't have this -in The Netherlands-, nor do I have a flat fee GPRS rate, so the GPRS traffic monitor is very welcome for me too. I guess that's why this is a European developer.

When I had a problem with version 2.6 and my Nokia 6230 I recieved very helpful tips and data from this company.
They were very interested in my experiences and actually solved my problems.
Good to see 3.0 is a free-update.
