PocketMed Releases Pocket Billing 3.0
Pocket Billing is an application that can help physicians capture inpatients billing, track the billing and track procedures at the same time. The application is designed to be used in all specialties, and developed and tested by physicians. It supports printing of records and beaming them (e.g. to collegues). The newly released version 3.0 runs on both the Palm OS and the Pocket PC OS. The application starts at $59 for either the Palm or the Pocket PC platform, and there's a 30-day trial available.

That user interface was obviously designed by a programmer ... shows potential but the dodgy look and feel lets it down ...

Well, just the yahoo store to sell that program will cost him 40 dollars per month
http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/bzinf...php?rn=2140396
is not cheaper to sell it using Handango or Pocketgear?
at least using these stores he does not pay nothing if he does not sell nothing

You gotta remember the target customer for this is small business, so usually they're willing to spend a little more money on software than a single user would.

When Im designing a database for one customer I ask for a higher price because its customized for that customer but when Im selling it in any store thats already prepared so any user on that field can use it and that makes the prices lower.
I still consider 60 dollar for a database tool like that one very expensive.
Anyone here who use VisualCE or SprintDB knows what Im talking about... And I dont want to enter into details ...
As a developer I think that we due some respect to users

I agree with you as far as respect to users but have you ever priced Medical Billing Software. Most companies that sell it don't even list the price on their websites, which you know means that it's expensive. I found this one cheesy website which lists their single user version for $869.

So this is a bargain for most Doctors.
Secondly this isn't a database tool like VisualCE or SprintDB. It is specific for this use. Yeah, if you want to design the whole thing from scratch you can pay less and get one of those. Or even get the program that was used to design this, HanDBase, for $29.99.

That way you could change those colors.

With VisualCE you can create the same database tool like that one or anyone created in HanDBase, and you will have printing capability and you can send the report by email or beam it. You can sync via AS or via LAN or WAN, etc, etc... To create that kind of tool anyone knowing how to use VisualCE will spend no more than 30 mins... may be 1 hour (just the PPC part of it)... I still considering that to charge 85 dollars is not fair.
I understand that once this tool is just for doctors anyone would charge for it a lot more... This is the main reason why We all getting those huge bills when we have to use any medical service or facility. Then we ask why Medical Services in USA are so expensive
Do not get me wrong... Im just not that kind of guy willing to charge anyone 200 dollars per hour and this without considering that this software is going to be sold to hundred of people so you are getting back the cost of your time, tools, electricity, internet, your pets food, etc etc etc multiplied by several hundred times
But its ok... this is the American Way of Life!
