Axim X30 624MHz for $294?
Shiny Plastic is reporting that there's a one-day-only coupon at the Dell store for $20 off of items priced $300 or more. Combined with Dell's current 10% off promotion for most electronics, this would bring the total price of the unit down to $294. I don't know how long this offer will last, or the rules about discount combining, but if it's for real, it sounds like an awesome price on a brand new Pocket PC! If anyone gets the combo, report back and let us know...

Thanks for the link Janak, I found that it is really difficult to get this coupon to work properly and have updated my site to provide a better link and more details.
The coupon only works if you get to a X30 product page with a "Add to Cart" link, not a "Customise" link.
Easiest way to do that is look for the X30 in the Hot Sellers list and add to cart from there.
I got an X30 last week and it is great so far, I am going on a 2 week trip to San Fran, Hong Kong and China and will be reviewing how it works on my travels. In particular I will be connecting wirelessly in all the hotel with the X30 and a Netgear WGR101 travel wireless router (the router is smaller and lighter than the X30).
Mark.

Works perfect for me. coupon code: TWPXKZKZK21W2?
Don't leave out the question mark.
It's not the lowest price, 624Mhz X30 is only $270 a few weeks ago. But definitly a good deal.

Glad yuou got it to work huangzhinong, the $270 price a couple of weeks ago was better but you could only get that if you added something else to the cart to take the total over $350. I took advantage of that one to get the X30 with a spare battery

It seems to me that Dell is trying to "Buy" the market on PPC's while HP and everyone else sits and around with their thumb somewhere it doesn't belong. If Dell can convince you to buy the new X30 now, that's potentially one fewer customer for HP whenever they get around to releasing a 2nd edtion device.
This got me thinking about the PPC market in general. Why is it that the hardware has to be redesigned with each new processor or OS - or at least that seems to be what is happening. Why didn't HP simply updgrade their current line of devices to the faster processor and new OS? It seems to me that it's got to be extremely expensive to keep reinventing new ways of doing the same thing, factoring in research, design, testing, training, support, etc.
Dell has proven that you don't HAVE to do this with each upgrade - and I know HP did the same thing with the 3800-3900 series, but that was several years ago now.
I think many would be happy to purchase a new 4150 device that had the 624 Mhz proce, WMSE, and just to up the ante 128MB RAM. It seems that HP "should have" been able to do this quite easily, judging by how quickly Dell got to market. Call it the 4190 or something like that.
The funny thing is that these devices are so far backordered, we may actually see a 2nd edition device from HP before Dell delivers these things, but by then HP may have already lost a significant share of the small, shrinking, potential market.

if you go to techbargains.com, Dell posts a coupon like this about once a week. I usually post them when I can.
