Fujitsu To Release Asus A730 As Loox V70?
Akihabara News is reporting (English translation link above) that Fujitsu will be reselling the Asus A730 as the Loox V70. The specs are identical -- 520MHz processor, VGA screen, SD/CF, etc. The only question is whether it will offer both WiFi and Bluetooth - the article seems to suggest this may be the version that's both, although it is not 100% clear based on Fujitsu's webpage.
It also appears it's going to sell for about 635 Euros in Japan. It has not yet been determined if it will sell anywhere else, and what the price would be.

The problem now, is if the loox 720 is really another form facor or just identical v70?

Is it just me or does it look a lot like a Jornada.

The buttons and the curves make me think of the ipaq 1900 series.

I suppose the colour scheme is a bit reminiscent of the Jornada, but the button layout etc is pure ipaq 19xx as far as I can see.

Re: F/S To Release Asus A730 As Loox V70?
Nice but too bad about the processor. Sure wish they could put a faster one in it. Looks like the only PPC I would get is the h4700. The Mpx is too ugly. This one is using a mid range processor...like the colour scheme though.

The V70 is being released by Fujitsu and not by Fujitsu-Siemens. I guess they are choosing to go with a rebadged Asus.
The Fujistu-Siemens Loox 720/710 may well be similar (or even possibly the same under the hood as the a730) but will look like the Loox 410/420.
It does seem odd doesn't it? In the past the Fujitsu and Fujitsu-Siemens Loox models have been *almost* identical...

Ah, thanks. I'll edit the post. I'm not quite certain of the Fujitsu-Siemens relationship, then. :|

since that model uses the "pocket LOOX" product type I presume that the Fujitsi-siemens offering will be exactly the same.
I believe that Fujitsi manufactures them (or that other OEM that also build all those other xscale based PPC's) and that Siemens takes care of marketing and sales outside japan (including packaging and manuals etc...).
In fact it's probably similar to Audiovox and Toshiba. Where I believe Audiovox should have taken care of sales in the US. Though I think that relationship ended as Toshiba had a sales office themselves (for their laptops) and also sold PDA's through that channel. Tssk tssk tssk.
Anyway I believe both Fujitsu and Fujitsu siemens products will be the same.
