Default SplashData Embraces Cross-Platform Development

http://www.splashdata.com/ppc/splashid/index.htm

Joining the ranks of DDH Software, the developers of HanDBase, Ilium Software, the developers of Listpro and eWallet, and many other developers, SplashData, the maker of SplashWallet, a popular virtual wallet for Palm devices has begun making their apps available on the Windows Mobile platform. They currently have SplashID and SplashPhoto.

"SplashID safely and securely stores all of your personal identification information including user names, passwords, credit cards, calling cards, bank accounts, PINs, and more. Information is stored in a secure, encrypted format and is quickly accessible on a Pocket PC or Desktop computer with the included desktop software."

"SplashPhoto turns your Pocket PC into a mobile digital picture frame. Simply edit and upload your favorite images with the included desktop software and you're ready to view images while on the go."

I don't know much about this company but we've had some posts on this in our forums from Palm users upgrading to the Windows Mobile platform that were happy to see SplashData's apps being made available on their new devices. :way to go: Both products are currently $19.95 and can be purchased at the Pocket PC Thoughts Handango store by clicking on the product name above.

SplashID or FlexWallet? Both look very appealing but any people have any opinions of each? Anything one has that the other lacks?

I haven't tried SplashID, but since one of my main reasons for preferring FlexWallet over the other wallet programs is an included desktop version, this might be interesting to try. Of course, I really need to get around to upgrading FlexWallet on my device, so I'll probably just do that. But if I didn't have a wallet program already I would give this a try.

I have used splash photo and splash id on my Palm for a long time. Splash ID has one potential limitation (if coming from something like flex wallet) in that you have a max of 6 fields per record, plus a note pad space.

So if you like to set up a number of fields per entry, this may be a problem. Other than that, I love splash id, as I find it very easy to use.

The developers have also been quick to respond to queries. I use the app with Mac OSX / Palm, and they have always kept the mac version feature equivalent with the Windows version, conduits and all.

Recommended to check it out.

eWallet also has a desktop component as well, and I think Codewallet does too.

I used SplashID and SplashPhoto for Palm and now run both on my PPC. I tried Flex Wallet and it just didn't work out for me. Too many taps to get the info I need quickly.

SplashID has a desktop app and it comes with it as part of the package, some of the other security apps make you buy one. Others have commented to SplashData on the 6 field limit, but that has made me be more concise in what I really need to put in there and use the not field to overflow the rest.

It workss great, and no problems at all.
