Mini-Review of the iPAQ 6310 at pdaPhoneHome.com
"I have spent an hour with a pre-production version of the HP iPAQ h6310 PDAphone and I must say, I'm in love. Of course, I'm a geek at heart. We will have to see how long the love lasts... First, as has been discussed elsewhere, the h6310 is built around the Texas Instruments OMAP1510 processor running at 200MHz. Performance was acceptable if not good. The h6310 has 64MB RAM and 64MB ROM with a ROM date in the tested unit of 2/13/2004. It was running Windows Mobile Phone Edition 2003 (OS Version 4.20.0 Build 13349.) Second, connectivity is provided through quad-band GSM/GPRS using T-Mobile service, WLAN 802.11b, and Bluetooth. According to HP, the device will be upgradeable to EDGE when the network is delivered and that is part of the roadmap for their PDAphone products."
There's lots more detail, so check out the link!

Looks good. I'm surprised that only two wireless protocols can be run at a time though. I would like to be able to surf via WiFi, and still receive calls on my Bluetooth headset. That would require all three radios to be on at the same time though.
Still, I can probably live with this limitation (which may be fixed with the final version). I still think this will be my next device.

Okay - I know I have ranted about external aerials often enough but even with an external aerial I think this looks like a winner.

Are we sure this is a real picture? I see a glint on the buttons with a funny shape to the arial that changes with angle, and it looks too real, so it must be a fake

Does anyone know whether phone-specific buttons can be remapped on the newer WM2003 OS?
One of the deal breakers of having a PPCPE for me is the lack of programmable buttons for games. Two buttons are usually used for phone functions, which only leaves the other two for programs and games.

I'll be a bit cautious here, and wait and see how the unit handles with the keyboard attached. It still has to be pocketable, and not break off, or be top heavy, or generally be a pain in the ass to use.
