Default New Dell X30 Shows Up For Order In Australia

http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/pro...c=au&l=en&s=bsd

According to the Australian Dell Website, the official Web Launch isn't until May 18, but you can already order a Dell X30 by calling their sales hotline. What's that X30 you say?

I would have mistaken its picture for a X3, but the specs (especially the first two) are different, since it has a 312MHz Intel*XScale Processor with WMMX, and it runs Microsoft*Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. It comes with 64MB SDRAM in RAM and 64MB Intel*StrataFlash memory in ROM, and has Bluetooth, 802.11b and Consumer IR integrated for your wireless connections. It still has a QVGA (320x240) display, and one SDIO capable expansion slot. You can get all of this for the price of Aus$ 499 which converts to a little more than US $ 343.

A$499?!? With WM2003SE + BT, Wifi and Consumer IR?!?

That's very cheap

I feel very happy to be in Australia at the moment

One to put on the wishlist

We will have it here. Wherever you are. It's just that this is the first of a new batch of devices that will run the latest version of the Windows Mobile software. Some devices might even be upgradable to Windows Mobile 2003 Software for Pocket PC Second Edition.

Might I also add that as an introductory offer, Dell are offering a free 64MB SD memory card with the A$499 price tag. So if you're looking to get your hands on one of these devices, do it quick and you'll get a free bonus.

it uses PXA272 chips, which has 32bit memory bus. I hope it can be a little bit faster than 312Mhz PXA270 chips.

But who knows, mitac mio558 uses 32bit memory bus too, which is much slower than other 400mhz PPC.

Im in the US. My complaint is that I'm hearing that I wont be able to get my SE upgrade until july or later. IN all seriousness, this is hard to comprehend how Dell would have Second Ed. on a new device, but heaven only knows when any OEM would have it available in the US. Wasn't Toshiba releasing a free upgrade for it like amonth ago? I remember someone saying that a rep told them the download would be up that week.

I'm not sweating over not having SE, but it's obnoxious that these pocket pc manufacturers aren't doing crap in advancing the technology of our pocket pc's. where are all these 512 MHz processors? All these VGA screens, and USB host capabilities? And what about those peripherals I was going to be able to use on my 2215, that go into those holes????
I know, I know, they're all coming, right?

Default Basic version of Dell Axim X30 in Malaysia

Basic version of Dell Axim X30 in Malaysia!
Just read Dell latest Catalog come with today newspaper (17 May), yes got latest Axim X30 open for Purchase at RM 929 (USD 249), but i think actuall price in US will be cheaper due normally Dell sell Axim cheaper in US compare in Asia pacific, all spec is same in X30 at Australia include design same with X3 but without Bluehooth and WLAN, and come with runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 only, not comfirm is SE or not, will call Dell later to comfirm and update the news. check Dell website in Malaysia still have not update their Axim X30 detail.
