"Laser Vision" Offers a New Way of Looking at Things
"US firm Microvision has developed a system that projects lasers onto the retina, allowing users to view images on top of their normal field of vision. It could allow surgeons to get a bird's eye view of the innards of a patient, offer military units in the field a view of the entire battlefield and provide mechanics with a simulation of the inside of a car's engine. The system uses tiny lasers, which scan their light onto the retina to produce the entire range of human vision, reported the journal of the Institute of the Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE Spectrum."
Holy sci-fi coming to life Batman! 8O This article goes on to explain some of the possible future implementations, and they sound really exciting. How do you envision technology such as this being implemented?

I just hope that they have some failsafe preventing the laser to kick into overdrive in terms of the laser-light strength.
Otherwise: "Aarrghh, me eyes are burning!" :?

woooish
I see architechs working on restoration wearing computers which track gps, compass direction, and project blueprints into field of view overlaid on the actual scene the person sees. So looking at a ruined building, where a wall is just a pile, the planner would see the full wall in outline.

Gee, I dunno...it sounds awesome and all, but perhaps there's a chance that people wearing glasses will increase due to using that thing! :? I know it says "Safe to Use" there, but computers/tvs and other electronic equipments are safe to use, yet can have bad effects on the eyes...
I don't think I'll be jumping in to spend lots of money buying this thing :|
