Connect2Internet v2.6 Released
"connect2internet offers you fast and easy access to the internet with your Pocket PC...more than 70 mobile phones and over 150 network operators worldwide are supported and detected fully automatically." The "regular" version of the application includes a GSM dialer, a 1-Click GPRS Manager, and autodetection of both network and phone. connect2internet PRO adds an SMS client, SMS Group Manager, Phonebook Sync, and the ability to dial out from the Contacts list on your Pocket PC.
The list of network operators has vastly increased from the first generation of this product. Supported North American networks are Cingular, T-Mobile, AT&T, Rogers Wireless and Fido. This software was developed in Europe, so they support most European networks.
But what if your network isn't supported? Well, in their words, you can "Get c2i for free!! Provide us information about network operators which are not in the list and you will get your personal version of c2i for free! We integrate your settings in c2i and you will then be able to have autodetection for your network provider. Send us an email and we send you a form and a test tool to run. I'm a bit bummed about that too. In fact, if you do a search on Handago for Pocket PC GSM apps you'll find that the majority of these apps don't have a demo. It's pretty disappointing as this software is generally amongst the most expensive you can buy for the Pocket PC.

EUR 34,95 is pretty expensive. The program looks promising though. Won't buy it without heving seen it work, so no demo = not on my iPAQ.

I used to have a Loox and used Connect2Internet to connect to my 6310i for my mail and Internet. It worked like a charm.
I got the program for free because I gave them details of T-Mobile Dutch which they didn't have yet. It was about 5 minutes work! :lol:

This is a great piece of software. I use it since almost two years now. If you travel a lot, roaming from one network operator to another, this is the only way to get hasslefee gprs access wherever you are. Especially usefull in Europe, where you get a new network operator whenever you cross borders and even get automatically switched between local operator when abroad.
gprs access works as promised: just click "connect" - nothing else required. I never use sms though - find that "simple-sms" does a better job. What I really miss in c2i is some kind of a gprs-traffic counter. Indeed, c2i makes gprs access so easy, you end up spending more time and mb-volume than you initially thought you would.
I use it on an ipaq 2210 with my Siemens S55 and bluetooth. Wonder what advantage a smartphone would bring vs. this perfect bundle.
Price is a little steep, I agree, but I received free updates ever since I use the product. Support is very responsive and ... c2i ALWAYS did what it promised it would.

I have never been able to get this program to work.
to connect to the internet using my ipaq 4355 and my tmobile USA Nokia 3650, i would first pair the devices using the bluetooth manager. once they are paired, i would go back into the bluetooth manager and click on the short cut (ipaq4355 Dialup Networking). then it would let me select the number to dial which is my tmobile number of *99#. then the DUN icon would turn green and you would hear the connection sound. then it would dial the tmobile number then i was connected. i though the connect2internet would automate the process but up until now it has not.
on the 3650 the bluetooth connection indicator would turn on when i wanted to connect then it would go off and i would never get a connection. can anyone help me in getting this to work because i do not like to waste money

And most of them seem to not bother to respond to emails (BVRP, have you got your pre-sales query form working yet?). I have a Motorola V500 and most of the GSM apps do not list this amongst their compatible phones. But is that because it doesn't work or because they haven't tried it or, looking at the lists (which seem to list no phones less than 6 months old) because they haven't updated the list?
If they offered a demo version I could try it for myself. If they would answer my emails I'd know which one to buy. As it is none of them will get my dough.
c2i doesn't work with the Moto (I bought c2i v1 some time ago - it never ran properly on my 3970). Now v2.6 works with the 2210 but it doesn't recognise the v500. I'm hoping my email to 2kdevelopmet might bring some hope (but I ain't gonna hold my breath).

The lack of a demo had me ready to ignore them also; however, I decided to email 2KDevelopment and explain to them that I would consider their software if a demo was available but that since one wasn't I would not consider their software.
They responded to my email saying that they did not offer a demo version of the software but that they would send me a full version to try out if I was interested.
I've tried the software and found that it doesn't work for me with T-Mobile in the US because I am partitioned to use a different APN than their default. I'm currently speaking with their email support to resolve that matter.
