Default Pocket PC Thoughts Virtual Museum!

We've had many discussions here about "What we considered to be our first PDA" and "Which Pocket PC device we own?". These discussions inevitably turn into a list of every PDA we've ever loved/hated! I thought about it last night, and I wondered if most of the readers even knew what a Newton, Rex or even a Sharp Wizard looked like? I decided, the best way wouldn't be to set up a poll and ask, instead, start a thread where everyone could see the devices!

So, would you like to help out? Then, read on and let's get the "Virtual Museum" going!

The Pocket PC Thoughts Virtual Museum 1.0

So just how are we going to create the "Virtual Museum"? It's easy! Just post pictures of your PDA's to this thread. But let's set some rules here (I know, but there had to be a few rules  ):

1) Try not to post duplicates (if it's a different model number, that's O.K.)
2) This is not a graveyard! Only working PDA's should be posted
3) Prove it works: The device should be on! We want to be able to at least see the current date!
4) No pics from other sites, stories, etc.! It has to be your PDA!

Simple enough, right? Well, to get the ball rolling, I humbly submit the following pictures:

The Rex Rex-3

Ipaq Aero 2150

HP Jornada 548

HP Jornada 548 (Dark, so that you can see the writing)

HP Ipaq 2215

3Com Palm Pilot Professional

3Com Palm III

3Com Palm V

Palm Inc. Palm Vx

Palm Inc. Tungsten T

This was my collection as of last year...

Add a Siemens SX-56, iPaq 3970, Sony TH55, and a Motorola MPx200 and you'll be up-to-date.

From top left to right, and down:

Royal DaVinci
2x Casio Zoomers
Compaq 2010c
Compaq IA-2 (not really a PDA...)
RadioShack organizer
Casio A-11
HP 360LX prototype
Motorola StarTac organizer
VTech Helio
Texas Instruments Avigo
Casio Pocket Viewer
Palm m130
Casio BE-300
Compaq Aero 1550 (my first!)
Audiovox Maestro
Compaq 3765 w/ custom buttons (off a 3135)

Not shown: Casio Aladdin Windows CE Development Kit. (Kind of an overgrown A-11)

My first PDA was a Newton MessagePad (right) that I got in August of 1993 on the day they were introduced. In 1996 I bought a USRobotics Pilot (left) when they first showed up.

I bought just about every Newton model that came out between '93 and '98, the year that Apple broke my heart and dumped the MessagePad line. In the interim, I also had some other unusual PDAs.

My first wireless unit was a Motorola Envoy that I bought in 1995. It ran the MagicCap OS. GREAT OS, lousy hardware. My wireless bill ran about $150 a month for a few measley KB...which was my main reason for dumping it.

(Added later...)

These days I'm down to just three devices, two of which are "real" PDAs and the third a mobile phone with most of the features of a PDA:

From left to right: Nokia 3650 BT Camera Phone, HP iPAQ 4150, pa1mOne Tungsten T3

For your 1st post on PPCT's that is VERY impressive. I think you have taken the Alpha Geek lead.

Here are my 3 entries to the Museum.

My 1st PDA a Psion Series 3.

My 2nd PDA a Philips Velo 500.

My 3rd PDA a Handspring visor in orange.

Please not the dates, all are in working condition.

Now I have a HP iPAQ 2215 but will not post pictures as per the rules.

I have LOTS of acessories for all the old PDA's and might update my post with those images when I get more time.

Hey why not install a PHP gallery like Coppermine for this? Its very integratable into Websites and is Opensource.

I use it myself.
Not to mention it would be handy for other projects as well.

^^ Definitely agreed!! We could add a little something; date introduced, OS, etc.

Tomorrow I'm going to take a few pics as well for your enlightenment and enjoyment!

I have a Psion Siena & Revo, a Philips Nino (mono screen) an old HP100, a Rex (the touch screen one) and even an Oregon Scientific Osaris! (I'm sure nobody here has even *heard* of the Osaris; it runs Epoc and it's like a cheap Revo; sad to say it got orphaned and left for dead :-(

Anyway, provided there's juice in my cam left, expect some nice pictures!

Compaq iPaq 3870 running PPC2003 with PC Card Expansion Pack Plus, and a WL110 WiFi PC Card.

Sorry for the lack of light, but it came out better than the pic I took with the flash, so...yeah.
